William Gumede is Associate Professor, School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
He is the Chairperson of the Democracy Works Foundation (www.democracyworks.org.za). He was a member of the Post Global Editorial Panel, Washington Post newspaper, Washington DC. He used to present the Letter from Africa, radio column, BBC World Service Radio, London.
He has been a contributing comment writer for The Guardian (London); The Independent (London); and Corriere della Sera (Rome).
He was former Deputy Editor, The Sowetan newspaper.
He is the author of a couple of number 1 bestsellers. One of his recent books is Restless Nation: Making Sense of Troubled Times (Tafelberg)
