Welcome to the website of the Office of the Group Ombudsman, an internal but independent institution within Independent Media.

This office was established in October 2016 and considers complaints about content published in print and online titles owned by Independent Media. View the full list of our publications here.

Independent Media and all its editors are committed to the excellence and the highest standard of ethical journalism. The standards that our publications adhere to can be found in our Press Code and process of lodging complaints is outlined in the Complaints Procedure.

Independent Media, its editors and journalists, stand for and promote media freedom, independence and the right to freedom of expression.

The role of Independent Media’s Group Ombudsman is to receive, consider, investigate and respond to readers’ complaints, comments or concerns. The Group Ombudsman will do this in a prompt and timely manner.
