While studying her Matric on her own, she got a temporal job as a Privately Paid Teacher (PPT) in the neighbourhood Primary Schools for 3 consecutive years, before passing her Matric.
In 1989, she studied her BPaed Degree at the University of Zululand (Ongoye) as a full-time student in 4 years.

In 1995 she studied her Honours Degree in Linguistics (African Languages) part-time and obtained it in 1996.

In 1993 she was offered a post as an Educator for Post Level 1, at Umlazi Comprehensive Technical High School (Comtech). She taught isiZulu Language (Mother tongue) from Grade: 8 to 12. She participated in Disciplinary Committee, School Governing Body-Teacher Component (3 years), Literature Adjudicating Committee, Literature Books Screening Committee (for Grades: 10, 11 &12), marking Matric Exam Papers (isiZulu), supervising marking Matric Exam Papers (as a Senior marker), Tutoring Matric learners isiZulu and giving them tips on how to answer exam papers (under Usiba Writers’ Guild), voluntarily teaching inmates in Westville Correctional Centre (2003 to 2005), lecturing isiZulu at the University of Zululand part time (1997 to 2000).

In 2006 she became employed by KZN.-Department Arts and Culture: Language Services, as a Principal Language Practitioner for Lexicography, Terminology Coordination, and Literature Development Unit.

In 2007 to date, she is working as an Assistant Director in the same Directorate, in the same aforementioned Unit. In this Unit, we are conducting projects that relate to the development of mainly previously marginalized (indigenous) languages and I do supervisory duties.

In her spare time, she reviews dramas for Ukhozi FM, and reviews books for National Library: Centre for the books and books for different authors. She is a poet, dramas, and short story writer and translates some works for individuals.
